When expecting a little bundle of joy you start to visualize all the endless design and decor possibilities you could combine to create the perfect baby nursery. This becomes more of a challenge and quite frankly difficult to endure when you want to keep the sex of the baby a surprise until birth. This is what happened to crafty mom Amy at Positively Splendid, when she found about the impending arrival of little George (surprise baby!), who’s sex remained a mystery until birth.

Amy’s choice to keep little George a surprise instantly helped her decide on a neutral nursery color scheme. She knew she wanted colors that could easily adjust to both genders by incorporating masculine or feminine accessories that would set the tone of the room for either sex. The theme for George’s room wasn’t immediately decided on, Amy new she wanted to concentrate on a bee inspired nursery since bees are pretty neutral, she found herself adding bird elements and in no way intended to create a “birds and the bees” themed nursery 😉 but ended up working out perfectly.

We want to credit Amy for her dedicated work with this nursery, almost everything in it is handmade and created by the crafty mom. As much as we would all love to be hands on with most of our little one’s nursery items, not everyone has the time or talent to do so. If you find yourself wanting to follow in Amy’s footsteps check out all her diy tutorials for George’s nursery on her original post. Nevertheless, we bring you a list of products similar to the ones featured in this room if you want to purchase them done and ready to decorate your child’s nursery.
